What's the difference between full body and THBO? |
| There is a risk of pulmonary or central nervous system toxicity related with systemic HBO, due to systemically absorbed oxygen at high levels of pressure (30-45 psi). A decrease in wound site healing as well as poor wound tissue vascularization can result from full body chambers. When using Topical Hyperbaric Oxygen, oxygen is delivered at 50 mmhg directly to the wound site. So despite the poor wound tissue vascularization transcutaneous oxygen levels are increased. The low pressure used with the THBO chamber is an added health benefit because there is no systemic absorbsion of oxygen. |
